There’s so much good music out in the ether that sometimes it’s difficult to parse through all of it. Every week The Daily Music Report will do the hard work for you and highlight the best releases available on streaming services.

This week we’re highlighting new music from Wild Pink, Caribou, and The Smile.

Wild Pink – Dulling The Horns

Dulling The Horns is Wild Pink’s latest album, recorded live to capture their raw, unfiltered sound. Departing from their previous atmospheric work, frontman John Ross leans into gritty, distortion-heavy rock, channeling a Crazy Horse-style intensity. The album, shaped by Ross’ battle with cancer and his desire for a fresh start, blends visceral energy with introspective lyrics, exploring themes of mortality, resilience, and moving forward. Recorded with longtime collaborator Justin Pizzoferrato, Dulling The Horns marks a bold new chapter for the band, stripping away artifice in favor of raw, emotional immediacy.

Standout Songs: ‘The Fences of Stonehenge,’ ‘Eating the Egg Whole,’ ‘Sprinter Brain,’ ‘Dulling The Horns,’ ‘St. Catherine St.,’ and ‘Rung Cold.’

Caribou – Honey

Written, produced, and recorded by Dan Snaith, Honey is out now via Merge. Marking a new direction for Caribou, the album blends Snaith’s two musical personas, Caribou and Daphni, with both dancefloor energy and pop sensibility. It features singles like ‘Volume,’ ‘Honey,’ and ‘Broke My Heart,’ along with ‘Come Find Me,’ which is accompanied by a playful video. The album reflects Snaith’s lifelong passion for experimenting with sound, maintaining his signature freshness and curiosity in music-making.

Standout Songs: ‘Broke My Heart,’ ‘Honey, Volume,’ ‘Come Find Me,’ ‘Dear Life,’ and ‘Got To Change.’

The Smile, consisting of Radiohead’s Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood with drummer Tom Skinner, previewed several songs during live performances in 2021 and 2022.
