There’s so much good music out in the ether that sometimes it’s difficult to parse through all of it. Every week The Daily Music Report will do the hard work for you and highlight the best releases available on streaming services.

This week we’re highlighting new music from Poor Effort., AFI, and Snõõper.

Poor Effort. – Poor Effort. EP

Manchester’s Poor Effort, the project of Matty Dagger, channels small-town nostalgia and sharp social commentary on his self-titled debut EP. Blending hip-hop beats, electronic textures, and poetic storytelling, the collection reflects on social media culture and urban disillusionment while celebrating childhood memories of video rentals, late-night TV, and gaming marathons. Inspired by pop culture touchstones like Takeshi’s Castle and Willy Wonka, Dagger pairs warmth and wit with the grit of modern life, recalling artists like Kae Tempest, The Streets, and early Gorillaz. Co-produced with Dean Glover, Poor Effort is a self-taught, self-made ode to imagination and resilience.

Standout Songs: ‘City of Hope,’ ‘Talking Mouth (On & On),’ and ‘Eternity of the Internal.’

AFI – Silver Bleeds The Black Sun…

AFI’s twelfth studio album, Silver Bleeds the Black Sun…, out now via Run for Cover, finds the California legends diving deeper into the shadowy allure of 1980s goth and post-punk. Across ten tracks and 34 minutes, frontman Davey Havok’s dramatic vocals lead the band through darkly cinematic territory, from the Siouxsie & The Banshees-inspired ‘Blasphemy & Excess’ to the Joy Division-tinged ‘Ash Speck in a Green Eye.’ Preceded by lead single ‘Behind the Clock,’ the album showcases AFI’s continued evolution more than 30 years into their career, pairing pounding rhythms and atmospheric guitars with a refined, theatrical edge.

Standout Songs: ‘Behind the Clock,’ ‘Holy Visions,’ ‘Ash Speck in a Green Eye,’ and ‘Marguirite.’

Snõõper – Worldwide

Snõõper’s Worldwide, their second album for Jack White’s Third Man Records, distills their chaotic, hyperactive synth-punk into 12 sharp bursts of noise, melody, and manic fun. The Nashville band—led by Blair Tramel and Connor Cummins—captures the digital-age frenzy with songs that are as bright and catchy as they are unhinged, like a hydraulic press squeezing punk into pure kinetic energy. What began as a home project during lockdown has evolved into one of the most distinctive acts in modern DIY rock, now joined by bassist Happy Haugen, drummer Brad Barteau, and guitarist Conner Sullivan. Recorded with producer John Congleton, Worldwide marks a bold step forward—an album born from pressure, transformation, and the joy of pushing chaos to its breaking point.

Standout Songs: ‘Opt Out,’ ‘Guard Dog,’ and ‘Star 6 9.’
