3 New Albums Out This Week You Should Listen to Now: Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Tycho, and EVIL
There’s so much good music out in the ether that sometimes it’s difficult to parse through all of it. Every week The Daily Music Report will do the hard work for you and highlight the best releases available on streaming services.
This week we’re highlighting new music from Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Tycho, and EVIL.
Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds – Wild God
Nick Cave doesn’t mince words when discussing his new album with the Bad Seeds, Wild God. “There’s no fucking around with this record,” he’s said. “When it hits, it hits. It lifts you. It moves you. I love that about it.” Released on August 30, 2024, Wild God is the 18th studio album by the Australian rock band, marking their first release since Ghosteen (2019). Cave began writing the album on New Year’s Day 2023, with recording sessions at Miraval Studios in Provence and Soundtree in London. Produced by Cave and Warren Ellis, with mixing by David Fridmann, the album features contributions from Colin Greenwood of Radiohead and Luis Almau. Exploring themes of “convention and experimentation,” the album is rich in imagery and emotive narratives. Cave describes Wild God as a “complicated record” but also “deeply and joyously infectious,” hoping it has the same powerful effect on listeners as it had on him.
Standout Songs: ‘Wild God,’ ‘Frogs,’ ‘Long Dark Night,’ and ’O Wow O Wow (How Wonderful She Is).’

Tycho – Infinite Health
Tycho, the two-time Grammy-nominated project led by Scott Hansen, released their new album Infinite Health. Co-produced with Grizzly Bear’s Chris Taylor and Tycho guitarist Zac Brown, the album sees the outfit return to a more electronic-based production style, with Hansen emphasizing “breaks, drums, and rhythmic elements” as its foundation. Featuring contributions from drummer Kaelin Ellis and vocals from Cautious Clay, the album blends aggressive beats with nuanced, intimate soundscapes. Describing the album, Hansen explains, “Infinite Health is about hope for the future and a requiem for the past… Ultimately, all we really have is our health – both physical and mental – and we wish infinite health to our family and friends.”
Standout Songs: ‘Consciousness Felt,’ ‘Phantom.’ ‘Devices,’ and ‘Totem.’

EVIL – obedience EP
Born and raised in Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley, EVIL’s music has always reflected the isolation of their upbringing, starting with imaginative teenage bedroom raps as a member of the Tumblr-spawned collective, Barf Troop. Their latest endeavor, obedience EP, is a 6-track project inspired by their time doing anonymous dominatrix work. The more pop-orientated songs uncover a more playful shift from their previous work.
Standout Songs: ‘d099’ (feat. liplock), and ‘hard2handle.’
