There’s so much good music out in the ether that sometimes it’s difficult to parse through all of it. Every week The Daily Music Report will do the hard work for you and highlight the best releases available on streaming services.
This week we’re highlighting new music from Mal Not Bad, Oso Oso, and beabadoobee.
Mal Not Bad – This Is Your Life
Mal Not Bad, the project of LA-based musician, producer, and visual artist Mal Hauser, has released their debut album This Is Your New Life via Same Same. This cinematic and evocative record is a deeply personal exploration of grief, growth, and renewal, blending influences from electronic and ambient artists like Aphex Twin and Brian Eno with the songwriting finesse of Feist and David Byrne. Clocking in at just under half an hour, the album features twelve tracks, including the previously released singles ‘AP,’ ‘No Worries,’ ‘Mustang,’ and ‘Life.’ Self-produced and recorded in Hauser’s Melrose District home, the album includes instrumental contributions from saxophonist Henry Solomon, drummer Madi Vogt, and keys by Sam Weber, with mastering and co-mixing by James Krausse and John Lowell Anderson.

Featuring the singles ‘Take a Bite,’ ‘Coming Home, ‘Ever Seen,’ and ‘Beaches,’ the album marks a significant evolution in beabadoobee’s sound and lyrical themes.
